oxygenWe know that fires need oxygen to breathe.  You can use this principal to test if oxygen is being released from a chemical reaction.  All you need is a chemical reaction, a wood ember, and something to light the ember with. For our chemical reaction we used hydrogen peroxide and activated charcoal.  We lit the ember, blew it out, and stuck it slightly above our solution in the test tube.  With in a few seconds our ember was once again on fire.
