When I was a kid growing up in Florida, seafood restaurants with Christmas tree lights, nets, sailfish trophies, and other eclectic tropical garb hanging from the ceiling and walls were a dime a dozen. Now they are a rare find in the sunshine state just like vacant land. For that reason when we are on the west coast I love eating at Sandy Hook in Matlacha. Matlacha is a quaint little Florida town that has beautiful views of the water and definitely reminds me of the Florida of my childhood. It is an easy drive from the Edison/Ford estate. After our field trip to these famous innovators homes, we knew exactly where we were going for dinner. The food and drinks are delicious every time we go. The views from this restaurant are truly beautiful, as you can see from my pictures. Sandy Hook consistently pleases the adults and kids alike on our trips. My favorite dish at Sandy Hook is without a doubt is the tuna nachos. Oh my goodness, they are so worth the two hour drive! The conch fritters, homemade ranch dressing and fish tacos are also family favorites. Bon Appetit!
