I had remembered loving the Edison/Ford estate as a child and was really excited to take my kids. It is still as wonderful as I remembered. You can’t help but be inspired by Edison’s constant curiosity and desire to invent and push forward progress. You are able to tour Edison and Ford’s homes, Edison’s lab, and an educational building which houses many of Edison’s famous inventions like the phonograph, movie camera, and light bulb. The property offers a guided tour which we thoroughly enjoyed. In addition the estates are on the water with beautiful views. It is simply fun to walk around the property and take in the scenery. They have various little shops on site where you can purchase tourist trinkets, art, and books. I walked away with plants. The Edisons were most definitely gardeners and there are a wide range of orchids, bamboo, palms, herbs and other plants for sale. My family returned home with the feeling of riding home in a jungle as they had to make room for my new bamboo, orchid, and palm tree. If you are in the sunshine state and have an interest in science I would definitely put this on your list.
