We have been studying Japan. As I mentioned, we have read some wonderful books on Japan (click here). As part of our unit we made our very own “Japanese Wind Poems”. All you need to make a beautiful wind poem is a wooden dowel, sharpie markers, double stick tape, and velum or tracing paper. You can have the child write a poem, haiku, or simply dreams on the strips of paper. Once the decorated strips are complete loop them over the dowel and affix with double sided tape.
