Field Trip: The Museum of Science and Industry

titleWe have had a rough few weeks. My husband’s grandmother passed away. It was her wish to be laid to rest in Chicago so unexpectedly we were off to Chicago. After all the funeral plans, and funeral were complete we had a day in Chicago before we flew home. We let the kids choose what they would like to do. My husband was delighted when they chose to visit the Museum of Science and Industry. You see my husband grew up in Chicago and that was his very favorite museum as a child.  I can see why. It truly is a marvelous museum and a fun time was had by all. It was also a great lesson for me. I was a little reluctant about visiting because we had visited a few years ago when the kids were younger. It was as if they had never been. New things interested them as their interests and attention spans have changed since the last time we were in Chicago. I was really surprised by the exhibits they took an interest in. If you haven’t been to Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry it is a must see if you are in the area. You can also for an additional charge tour the German u-boat and coal mine.  We did both; the kids loved both and are still talking about the u-boat.graphic

A cool video my daughter shot in one of the exhibits.
