“Little House In The Big Woods” Lapbook

“Little House in the Big Woods” was the first chapter book that I fell in love with. I loved it so much that one Christmas my mom bought me a sun bonnet. I would wear that sun bonnet in our back yard and pretend I was just like Laura. This was not easy. I did not live in the big woods of Wisconsin, I lived in South Florida. Instead of picking northern friendly crops…I picked key limes and imagined that they would sustain my family and I was helping in my own way. I was so excited to share “Little House in the Big Woods” with my own children. I found this amazing lapbook on line. We had so much fun not only reading each chapter but creating corresponding projects as well. Making the wood stove in the lapbook was one of our favorites. We soaked our wood chips in liquid smoke. The kids could not stop smelling their lapbooks. We used CLEAN cat litter for the chimney. My daughter enjoyed sewing the pocket. Making an origami pigs bladder ball was a favorite for my son.
