If you have not listened to “Radio Lab” on NPR you should give it a try. I find the segments to be completely thought provoking. Not only do I find it fascinating, my ten and twelve year old love listening too. I found the “Musical Language” episode particularly interesting. When does speech become music? Why do sixty percent of Chinese children have perfect pitch while only fourteen percent of American children have perfect pitch. All of this is covered in this fascinating episode of “Radio Lab” featuring UC San Diego perceptual and cognitive psychologist Professor Diana Deutsch.(It is great for downloading to your phone or tablet and listening in the car).
