Non-fiction can be seriously dry and boring. We came across these two books this week and really enjoyed them both. They were both really well written, informative, and entertaining.
“Buried In Ice The Mystery of a Lost Arctic Expedition”
Is the story of Sir John Franklin’s ill fated arctic expedition in search of a northwest passage. The tragic tale is recounted by one of the ships stokers. The book ends with the science expedition that took place in the 80’s to excavate the graves and understand all angles of what went wrong on the voyage. It is a great medley of history and science.
This book was really well done. We had only planned to read a few pages and ended up reading the entire book in one sitting. One of the things we liked about this book the most was that it had accounts from both sides. It was really interesting reading about the bombing of Pearl Harbor through the eyes of the Japanese as well as our American soldiers.
